Better corporate events start with better communications

by | Sep 11, 2024

Whether you’re planning an internal employee meeting, a launch event, or a corporate celebration, you’ll create better corporate events when you focus on well-branded event communications — which can improve engagement, attendance, and impact. Defining your strategy and measurable outcomes for the event can help you set specific goals. And applying design to the strategy helps you connect with your audience and create a memorable experience.

Here are three ways communication can help you build a better corporate event:

Theme the event with a tagline

Articulate the event’s purpose and mood with a themed tagline. A tagline with a distinct tone of voice helps summarize your strategy and message in a few words. It can quickly communicate the event’s purpose and spark curiosity. With repetition, attendees will become familiar with your message. Using the tagline in all your communications channels and event elements creates cohesiveness and ties communications together throughout the event.

Use strong visual communications

Visual cues can support the strategy of the event. Using your brand’s elements like colors, fonts, icons, and photography can help attendees connect and familiarize with your brand and the event itself. Creating a unique look for the experience (while respecting the guidelines) will help you deliver a better corporate event. Consistent visuals in the invitations, signage, agendas, etc. ensures that all the elements communicate the same message, create a lasting impression and make the event memorable.

Let the experience drive the communications

What sort of experience are you hoping to create for attendees? Can you improve the experience with print elements like murals, banners, signage, programs and agendas? Are you creating a better corporate event in the way you’re using the event space? How close or far will attendees be from the speakers and presentation screen? Do you need to consider the experience of remote attendees as well as those who will be attending in person? Anticipating these details can help you make decisions ranging from what communications materials to provide to what font size to use in the presentation itself.

Communicate before and after the event.

A well-designed event goes beyond the day itself. Build anticipation for a better corporate event with communications that are delivered prior to the event and that follow up afterwards. Consider some communications element to be sent to attendees after the fact, like a video of attendee interviews, photos of attendees and event happenings, or an art project created by attendees onsite. These additional communications elements  will help you connect to your audience and ensure a long-lasting impact.
